Some members of the East Ayrshire International Group visited the Glasgow Chinese School and an associated Arts Centre (Ricefield) on Saturday 25th November 2006. We must thank our hosts, Lin Chau and Fan Li.

Comenius 1 Partner Search - January 2007

Colleagues - Roman's school in Prague and one of our schools in East Ayrshire hope to set up a Comenius 1 School Partnership.

Do you have a school that would like to join this group? We need at least two schools.

We are right at the start of the process: we hope that the partners can have an exploratory meeting in January 2007 in Prague to decide what the theme of the partnership should be and then do some work together during 2007, with a view to setting up a Comenius with funding in January 2008.

Please let me know as soon as possible if your have a school to join this group - and let me know also if your schools can get the funding to go to Prague in January.

Plurilingualism

Spain have had big problems with their intranet, making it difficult to communicate. Now, it seems everything is OK.They have sent information about the plurilingualism program in which bilingual schools are included. This is contained in the PowerPoint presentation below:-

Insight - Additional Support Needs

Recent changes to the law in Scotland have led to an increase in discussion of and research on the educational needs of children with "additional support needs." Since the social inclusion agenda is just as important in your jurisdictions as it is here, I am posting a document that I hope will interest you.

The document is a review of the literature connected with additional support needs. It is part of a series of documents called "Insight" produced regularly by the Scottish Executive Education Department.
