'Science Is Fun' Videos

If you would like to see some of the videos entered into the 'Science Is Fun' competition, here is a link to the LETIN site in Denmark. Poul says that some of the direct links do not work because of a change of servers. Maybe Poul can fix this sometime. Fourteen days since you all left Ulricehamn and our LTI conference. I must thank you all for participating in the conference with such an energy. We really could see that we have had a lot of important activities in LTI. We have not been doing what we wanted when we first met in Newcastle, NI. What has taken place are short study-visits but also project as a result of our links. We can do a lot more, Then we have to be in contact with each other through this fantastic Blog and Wiki. I hope we will keep it alive with creative ideas how to cooperate.
Here in Ulricehamn we just have started our internal project about better quality in our schools. 10% of our pupils have not reached a level in their marks that allows them to start secondary school. We want to change that through better education in basic skills in Swedish and Maths. Perhaps this is something that will interest some of you.
I now look forward to our next conference in Huelva. We have time develop concrete ideas for our future cooperation.

Professional Development for SEELB primary and post-primary teachers (English/drama)

The SEELB has commissioned INTERACTING – a drama company (native English speaking directors) based in Madrid – to provide a one week drama course in English for SEELB primary teachers and teachers of English/ drama in post-primary schools.

We are happy to make a limited number of places available (1 or 2 per country) up to a maximum of 10 in total to teachers from LTI partner areas. LTI partner teachers must have English as the course is in English, NOT Spanish.

There will be a primary group and a post-primary group.

Interested LTI partner teachers should contact Ed Cousins, Director, or Laura, administrator, at INTERACTING direct to request a place. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Once a place has been secured interested teachers should contact their National Socrates Agency and complete and return a Comenius 2.2 In-Service Grant application as a matter of urgency, as grants are limited in some countries. It will help if you give your support to the grant application.

Impact of Learning Together Internationally

Learning Together Internationally - Impact on East Ayrshire Schools

• Three East Ayrshire headteachers offered support on leadership through HGIOS to SEELB headteachers and were invited to visit County Down to meet them.

• A teacher at Crosshouse Nursery who had pioneered Spanish in early years in East Ayrshire was invited to Huelva to study early years language teaching in Andalusia.

• The Gaelic CLAD Officer visited Ennis ICT Town in Eire to study the effect ICT had had on the development of Irish Gaelic.

• Four ASN specialists from France, Sweden and Northern Ireland visited East Ayrshire to discuss best practice and prepare a bid for Comenius funding.

• An East Ayrshire secondary headteacher attended a study visit on leadership in Huelva, Andalusia.

• A primary teacher attended a drama seminar in Madrid organised by Northern Ireland and Spanish colleagues.

• An East Ayrshire curriculum developer in ICT attended a seminar in Denmark to write a bid for Comenius funding. This was not successful but will be re-written and re-submitted in January 2007.

• Successful conferences have been held in Northern Ireland, Sweden and Eire. A further conference is planned for May/June 2007.
